Skin Care Routine Fall/Winter 2015

Let’s kick off the weekend with a little skin care, shall we?

Until recently my skin care routine was extremely basic. I used one cleanser and one moisturizer, that’s about it. As I started getting more into makeup earlier this year I also started paying more attention to the state of my skin. This lead me to fleshing out my skin care to quite a few products so I thought I would share my current routine with you guys! For reference I have oily/combination skin that is acne prone.

In the morning I use the E.L.F. Daily Face Cleanser with my Clarisonic Mia after a shower. About 3 times a week I replace this cleanser with the E.L.F. Exfoliating Scrub (DO NOT use exfoliating products with a Clarisonic – it will cause too much irritation to the skin).

I follow up my cleanser with Thayers Alcohol-free Toner. I apply my toner with a large cotton ball and pat it into my skin with my hands after application. While that is drying I will spot treat any acne spots with the E.L.F. Acne Fighting Spot Gel. I’ve only been using this for about a month and I’m still deciding how I feel about it. It does dry out any pimples I have but I might look for something else to try out. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Next step is the E.L.F. Soothing Serum, I dispense a pump into my hand and then gently pat it into my skin. While that sinks in I apply the E.L.F. Illuminating Eye Cream. It’s important to let products absorb into the skin before applying more products so while these sink in I will go ahead and apply my body lotion. To finish up I apply a moisturizer with SPF, I currently use the Kroger off brand of Olay Moisturizer with SPF. That completes my morning skin care routine! What does your morning routine look like?

After wearing makeup all day at work I’m usually ready to take it off once I get home. Since I don’t do my nighttime cleansing until much later in the evening I want to make sure whatever I use to get rid of my makeup gets ALL of it.

I start out using Eclos Cleansing Oil and follow up with my Thayers toner to make sure every little bit of makeup is gone. In the past I only used makeup wipes to remove my makeup, but I never felt like they got rid of everything. I absolutely LOVE the Eclos cleansing oil, I have found it removes all makeup (even eye makeup!) and doesn’t leave me skin feeling stripped or dry.

My evening routine is almost the exact same as my morning routine. The only things I do different are that I don’t use the exfoliating scrub at night and instead of my moisturizer with SPF I use the E.L.F. Nourishing Night Cream.

About 1-2 times a week I will also use a face mask. Lately I have been using Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mixed with Apply Cider Vinegar about mid week. While the mask dries I typically go ahead and wash my makeup brushes for the week. On the weekends I have been using the Freeman Pomegranate Peel-Off Mask. I find the peeling part of this mask is fun to do but I don’t feel like it has a major impact on my skin.

What are your favorite face masks? I’m looking to try out some new ones!

Let me know what products you use or if you want me to try any out for you. Allons-y Bookish Babes!
