Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation – Review

Processed with VSCO

TGIF Bookish Babes! Today I want to review the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation for you guys! This limited edition line from Tarte has been getting a lot of hype around the blogger and YouTube lands so of course I was interested in trying it out.

I found myself stuck at a mall for an hour the other week and decided to browse through Sephora. The Tarte displays are always one of the first places I go, everything is just so pretty!! At first there weren’t any available in my shade, but an awesome employee checked the back and found one for me! I had to get it of course, it was fate. One of the employees told me it was the best foundation she had ever tried, but it did oxidize on her a little bit. I figured if it didn’t work out I could always just return it.

I have been using this foundation for a few weeks now and I have thoughts. This claims to be a lightweight, full coverage, hydrating foundation with a non chemical SPF 15. It’s going to cost you $39 and is the standard 1 fluid ounce. Some other things to note are that this product is vegan friendly, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist tested.

Overall I REALLY like this foundation. I have the lightest shade – fair neutral – and it is ever so slightly too dark for me. As long as I blend really well I can totally get away with it, but it’s something to keep in mind for my fellow fair ladies. Instead of a pump this comes with a dropper for application. This can have customizable coverage and builds on itself very well. The Tarte website recommends 1-2 drops for light coverage and 3-4 drops for medium to full coverage. I have found that I get the best coverage without being cakey by filling up the dropper and using everything that it sucks up. The dropper doesn’t become completely full, so it isn’t too much. This is a water based foundation so the coverage looks very natural and skin like. It’s the most natural looking foundation I own. I have pretty oily skin so I do set this with a powder and I’ve found that controls my oils pretty well. I have worn this for 8-10 hours and I think it wears beautifully, especially with a setting spray (E.L.F. Mist and Set is what I use).

I definitely recommend checking this out, you can always go get a free sample from Sephora to test it out!

Have you used this foundation? What are your thoughts?
