Sephora Play – May Box

Happiest of Fridays to you Bookish Babes!

I finally got off the wait list for the Sephora Play box and I received my first one yesterday! This post will be more of a first impressions and then in 2 weeks I will post a full review of all the products.

When you first open the box there is a pamphlet that has the theme for this month as well as information about all the products included. All of the products came in a canvas drawstring bag which I thought was a nice touch! I’ve never seen the items come in a bag from all the unboxing videos I have watched on Youtube, perhaps they’re changing things up now that the delivery is more widespread.

This box came with 2 skin care items, a hair care item, a perfume sample, and 2 makeup items.

First up was the perfume sample – Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine

I’m pretty picky with perfumes but from first impressions I quite like this one! It does have a dominant orange smell though, we’ll see how I feel about it after wearing it all day.

Next up are the skincare items. I am SUPER excited about the Origins mask samples! Origins recently launched a Maskimizer product that is supposed to increase the effectiveness of face masks. I’m a bit skeptical about that and think it’s a little gimmicky personally…but I will give it a fair shot! What I’m REALLY excited about is the two samples that came with the Maskimizer. You get a Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask for clearing pores and a Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. I will be trying these ASAP and will keep you updated on my thoughts!

Second up in skincare is KORRES Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial. This overnight mask is meant to help with uneven skin tone and improve texture to give you a brighter complexion. I’ve never tried anything like this and I’m certainly curious about it! This is a pretty decent sample size (0.34 Fl Oz.) considering the 0.51 Fl Oz. size is $19. You definitely get your money’s worth with this box! Have you tried any Korres products? Let me know your thoughts!

Hair care! The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair!™ Deep Conditioning Mask is formulated to give dry, over-processed, or brittle hair an extra boost in hydration to restore natural vibrancy. I’ve been wanting to pick up a deep conditioning mask so this couldn’t come at a more perfect time! What’s your favorite hair mask?

Now on to the really fun part…makeup!

Both of the makeup selections this month are lip items. The tarte Tarteist™ Lip Crayon in Latergram is an itty bitty baby sample! I found that this item did not swatch too well on the back of my hand which makes me pretty skeptical about it, it even broke off a few times when trying to swatch. The name of this product suggests it should be creamy and be able to work as any other lip crayon – to replace lipstick if desired. The sample is more in the format of a lipliner and it not creamy at all. I’ll have to see how it actually does on my lips, perhaps I will have more luck than with swatches.

You guys, I have been wanting to try Bite lipstick for forever! I’ve heard so many great things about them and was ecstatic to see one in this box….until I saw the color. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Kimchi is not something I would normally wear, I’m just not a ‘shocking pink’ type of gal. Give me a dark mauvey color and I’ll be happy for dayyyys. I’m definitely still going to try this one out and let you guys know my thoughts. Perhaps it will prompt me to go buy a more wearable shade.

That wraps up all of the products that came in this box! I am ready to start testing everything out for you guys, which product are you most interested in? Let me know in the comments! You can also come chat with me over on Instagram.

Allons-y Bookish Babes, have a great weekend!
