Birthday Haul + Mini Reviews

Bonus Sunday Post!!

My birthday was earlier this month and I’ve finally finished collecting everything I wanted. The first thing I did was spend the 2,000 Ulta points that I’ve been saving up for a year to get $125 worth of free product! I also spent some money I was gifted and picked up the birthday gifts from Ulta & Sephora.

TARTE Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette

I’ve had my eye on this palette for a while. After getting this for my mom and hearing her rave about it I knew I had to pick it up. These shadows are super blendable and all of the colors go so nicely together. I’ve been using this pretty much every day since I bought it, I’m constantly combining different shades and getting great results! I really love that there are so many great crease shades in this palette, as well as perfect eyeliner colors.

TARTE Double Duty Beauty Day/Night Eye & Cheek Palette

Originally I was only looking to get one eye shadow palette, but I have been wanting a good travel palette with cheek and eye products. I had only heard really great things about the Tarte blushes and thought this would be a great way to try out the formula. I LOVE this blush color, it’s such a great neutral color that really does go with everything. The shimmer eye shadow  colors have really good pigmentation, although I do wish the lightest matte color in the palette was just a little less yellow toned for my fair skin.

TARTE Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer Park Ave Princess (Sample)

There was a special deal going on the day I bought the Tarte palette for a free sample of this bronzer. I thought this might be too orange for my skin tone, but I actually really like it! This does have a bit of shimmer to it that gives you a nice and healthy glow. It’s also a very generous sample that I think will last me a good while.

IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer

I was originally looking to get the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer, but after looking at the value and color selection I went with the It Cosmetics one instead. The Bye Bye Under Eye is almost double the amount of the Naked Skin and $4 less. This has been such a great under eye and blemish concealer that also helps to highlight. This is VERY thick, so you only need the tiniest amount for everything. I’m sure this tube is going to last me quite a long time. My only complaint is that it tends to crease after a few hours, no matter how well I set it.

STILA Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

I picked this up in the shade Patina and I LOVE! The color is a bit similar to Colourpop Lumiere (lippie stick, I haven’t tried the liquid lipstick formula) and is a really great consistency. This lasts really well on me, even through some meals if I don’t eat like an animal. I will definitely be picking up more of these, I have my eye on the shade Baci next. Have you tried these, what’s your favorite color?

ESSENCE Longlasting Lipstick

I really love my Essence lipstick in Oh So Matt! so I decided to pick up another one in the shade Nude Love. I don’t like this color as much, I find that it clings to dry spots on my lips a lot more and isn’t as pigmented. Luckily it was only $3 so no big deal.

ESSENCE Kajal Eye Pencil

The Essence Waterproof Gel Pencil is BOMB and such a bargain that I wanted to try out some other eyeliners from the brand. I grabbed the color Teddy which is brown with a bit of a metallic sheen to it. This is really gorgeous on the upper lash line, but I don’t think it would work in the water line as it’s not waterproof and smudges easily.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Dipbrow Pomade

Brows are something I have been focusing on more lately and I wanted to try something besides pencils, tinted gel, and powders. I have fairly thick brows that need to be filled in on some places. My brows don’t have a natural arch and I think it looks more polished with this pomade than anything else I have tried. This stuff is bulletproof! I wore this all day for work and then went and worked out outside in the Texas heat and they still looked AWESOME! I was hesitant to spend so much on a brow product, but you really don’t need to use much. This pot is going to last me a long time if I’m careful about not letting it dry out.

BENEFIT COSMETICS The POREfessional Face Primer Mini

The laugh lines around my mouth are pretty prominent and ALWAYS crease no matter what foundation and powder I use. I’ve received samples of the Benefit Porefessional with some Ulta orders and found that it worked wonders on creasing in that area so I decided to pick up the mini. This product also does a great job at concealing pores, as the name would suggest. I still have creasing in my laugh lines, but it is much less severe and takes longer to start creasing during the day.

Sephora Birthday Gift – Marc Jacobs

Sephora had the choice between Fresh skincare and Marc Jacobs beauty, I decided to go with the Marc Jacobs. This birthday set came with Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in black. The lipstick is a beautiful color and lasts a decent amount of time, but not through a good meal. It is very creamy and hydrating without emphasizing dry areas on the lips. The eyeliner is very black, but does smudge so I wouldn’t suggest using it in the waterline.

Ulta Birthday Gift – Roller Lash Sample

The birthday gift for June is Big Sexy  Hairspray, which I wasn’t all that interested in. To my surprise the employee at the counter offered a sample of the Roller Lash if I wanted to choose it instead, which of course I did! I am LOVING this mascara, it does a great job of separating lashes while adding volume and length. I have yet to be willing to spend big bucks on mascara….but this one might change my mind when I run out.

That wraps up my birthday haul! I’m still fully testing out a few of the products, but I’m really enjoying everything. What’s your favorite beauty gift? Leave a comment below or come chat with me over on Instagram (@thebookishbeauty) and Snapchat (@brittanyjo312)!
