Happy Tuesday Bookish Babes! Last week I reached 1,000 views on this blog!! A huge thank you to everyone who has supported my blogging journey, I truly appreciate every single one of you.
Today I wanted to share my everyday makeup routine with you and it’s going to be a long one so grab a snack and/or drink! This is the look I wear to work or general outings on the weekend when I don’t feel like putting too much thought into my makeup. I’ve found this look works really well with every outfit, but I will sometimes switch up the eye shadow or blush.
I always start with my face makeup and make sure I use a good primer for all day wear. I’ve actually been using two primers lately: NYX COSMETICS Skin Elixer Balance Tea Tree and BECCA Backlight Priming Filter. I use the Becca primer around the perimeter of my face and all over my cheeks for a nice, healthy glow under my foundation.Since I use a matte foundation I have found this primer gives some life back into my skin and helps it not look so flat. I then use the NYX primer all through my T-zone and on my chin to help prevent acne. This is a serum primer so it feels like a very light moisturizer on the face, not heavy or silicone feeling at all.
Next I use L’ORÉAL Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation in the shade 101 Classic Ivory, this is definitely my current holy grail foundation. It’s the only one I have found so far that stands up to the Texas summer heat. This foundation has a demi matte finish, but with the Becca primer underneath I get more of a satin finish with a subtle glow.
Just like the primers, I’ve also been using two different concealers on a daily basis. This may seem a little high maintenance, but I would rather take the extra two seconds to pick up another tube and have more flawless looking skin. IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer in the shade light has been my go to blemish concealer, I was using it under my eyes but I found that this product creased too much throughout the day. This is where the MAYBELLINE Fit Me Concealer in fair comes into play. I don’t like this for my blemishes as I find it wears off too easily on those spots. However I have totally fallen back in love with this product for under my eyes. It’s very lightweight but still has great coverage with minimal creasing throughout the day.
Now that the base is laid down I like to set everything before applying other powder products. For under my eyes I’ve been using COVERGIRL Professional Loose Powder in translucent fair 105 for years! I do like this product, but if I use too much my under eye area looks very dry. Any suggestions for great translucent powders? For the rest of my face I’ve been using MAYBELLINE Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder in translucent, this gives a great matte finish and helps my makeup stay in place all day.
Time for the fun part, bronzer, blush, and contour! I jumped on the PHYSICIANS FORMULA Butter Bronzer Murumuru Butter Bronzer hype train and I am so glad I did. This bronzer is a pale girl’s best friend and has been perfect this summer. The blush I’ve been using on an almost a daily basis is Milani Rose Powder Blush in Tea Rose. Even though I’ve been using it an absolute ton you can still see the rose design, this stuff is very pigmented and goes a long way! Now, everyone’s favorite makeup item….highlighter! I’m absolutely obsessed with e.l.f. Baked Blush in Pinktastic, even though it’s marketed as a blush this is the perfect highlighter for pale gals.
To seal all my face makeup I use e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set before moving on to my eye makeup. This takes away the powdery look and helps my makeup last all day.
After my face makeup I work on my brows for the day. I recently picked up the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Dipbrow Pomade in medium brown and have been loving it! I have pretty full brows already but need to do some filling in and shaping for them to look on point. For setting my brows I use the NYX COSMETICS Control Freak Eyebrow Gel since they can get a little crazy throughout the day.
My day to day eye look is pretty simple. The primer I’ve been using is the LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer that came with the Lorac Pro palette I got last year. This primer certainly works well, however I don’t think it’s worth the price. I’m just trying to use this one up, but I plan on going back to the e.l.f. eyeshadow primer when I’m done with this one. For a bit of shimmer on the lid I’ve been loving the e.l.f. Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadow in Crusin Chic. This color has a great consistency and staying powder, however not all of the colors in this line are created equal so beware. I’ll be going into a bit more detail on that in an upcoming disappointing products post. To accent the cream shadow and contour my eye area I go in with the Tartelette palette that I picked up last month (do you guys want a full review and post on this palette? Let me know). I’ve been loving Force of Nature in the crease to give my eye a bit of warmth and then Dreamer in the outer corner for depth.
To finish off the eye look I use one coat of COVERGIRL The Super Sizer Mascara (how awesome is this Star Wars packaging that came out during Christmas last year??) and one coat of COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Mascara. I’ve found the Super Sizer can make my lashes a bit clumpy since it’s a pretty wet formula, but it does give great length and volume with just one coat. Then I use the LashBlast as a second coat to separate my lashes.
We’re down to the last step…lips! I like to use pretty low maintenance products for long work days so I’m not worried about how my lips look all day. My current go to is the NYX COSMETICS Slim Lip Pencil in natural to line and fill in my lips, then I top it off with L’ORÉAL Colour Riche Lip Balm in Rose Elixir. This is actually my second tube of the Loreal balm, so you know I love it! This gives a subtle hint of pink that is perfect for everyday or on the go wear.
This is how it all turned out! What are your favorite every day makeup products? I’m always looking for suggestions!
