Hello Bookish Babes! The weather is finally cooling down a bit here in Texas and I am all about it. Today I wanted to chat about some products that have not lived up to my expectations. I do still use some of these items, but not as often or for the expected use.
NYX COSMETICS Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray: This spray is not as fine as I would like it to be, and the smell was not pleasant at all. I also found that this did not take away excess powder as well as some other sprays. Despite the claims did nothing to help keep my oily skin matte.
L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Classic Ivory: After seeing so many people rave about the L.A. Girl concealer I was so excited to pick it up. This ‘Classic Ivory’ color is a straight up peach. Who is this color?? I can see possibly using it as a dark circle corrector, and I did try it for this purpose. That turned out to be a bust too, it was a strange texture that blended unevenly and creased badly under my eyes.
MAYBELLINE SuperStay Better Skin Concealer in Ivory: I used to LOVE this concealer when I first got it. However, after a while I noticed that it oxidized on my skin which was not good for blemishes, made them stand out more in strong natural light. I will still occasionally use this under my eyes, but I do prefer the Fit Me concealer over this one.
IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer: I have been on the hunt for a brightening under eye concealer and thought all of my problems were solved with this beauty. The color is great, but it does crease under my eyes a bit too much for my liking. However I do still use this to cover blemishes, the thick formula is great for this purpose.
BENEFIT COSMETICS They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara: This mascara is super clumpy! I was not expecting that from a lengthening mascara. I’m hoping once it dries out a bit the formula will be better, but we’ll see.
e.l.f. Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadow in Ain’t That Sweet: I don’t dislike these smudge pots in general, but the color Ain’t That Sweet is TERRIBLE! I could not get it to transfer from a brush to my eye very well and the formula was very patchy and streaky. I absolutely LOVE the color Cruisin Chic and highly recommend it, just know that all colors are not created equal.
e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick: I have no idea why this is marketed as a liquid lipstick when it is a straight up sticky gloss. This stuff is so goopy it feels extremely gross on the lips.I would not recommend at all.
e.l.f. Moisturizing Lipstick in Pink Minx & Wink Pink: I talked about these in my Lipstick Collection Part 1 post a few weeks back. Wink Pink has glitters in it and Pink Minx goes on patchy/settles in to lip lines. I’ve heard others rave about the moisturizing lipsticks from e.l.f, but out of the shades I’ve tried I am just not a fan.
