September Wrap Up

september-wrap-up

Happy October Bookish Babes! This is my absolute favorite month of the year and I’m so excited to spookify my apartment and dig into some Halloween movies!

I didn’t read quite as many books as I wanted to this month. There’s a decent chunk I need to finish before the end of the year in order to meet my 2016 goals, so I’ll be reading like a madwoman in the coming months!

The Girl on the Train by Paula HawkinsI definitely wasn’t in love  with this book like a lot of other people. I found the main character to be obnoxious and the ‘thriller’ part of this book I just didn’t find very thrilling. If you want to check out my full review you can check it out here. I still haven’t decided if I want to go check out the movie or not, I love Emily Blunt but I can’t picture her playing this character as she is written in the book.

Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms #1) by Morgan RhodesI’m a big fan of fantasy so I was excited to check out this series centered around three kingdoms at odds. Honestly the insta-love scene killed this for me. A seemingly strong female character instantly fell head over heels for someone when he admitted her feelings for her despite the fact that she had never seen him that way until that very moment….just no. The world building was something I really enjoyed but I found most of the characters to fall flat. There were a couple who seemed to be rounded out pretty well, but the other characters were a bit lacking. I was considering continuing the series, but I just have too many intriguing books on my TBR to continue with series that I find lackluster.

The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie LuI was a little hesitant to get into another fantasy after not loving Falling Kingdoms, but this one turned it around for me! I really enjoyed this book and am so excited to continue the series. This fantasy world is very unique and the world building was done fantastically. All of the characters were intriguing and found myself immediately wanting to dive into book two when I finished the last page. I highly recommend checking this one out!

That wraps up September! Come chat with me about what you’ve been reading, I would love to know!
