DIY Relaxing Spa Evening

Happy Thursday Bookish Babes! I don’t know about you but by this time in the week I find myself needing a bit of a pick me up. I’ve found that the best way to relax and get myself to the weekend is to have some me time in the form of a spa night. Today I wanted to share with you guys some of my go-to ways to have an at home spa night, some weeks I’ll do all of these in one night and other weeks I’ll just pick one or two depending on what I’m needing at the time.

Soothing Bath

Taking a bath is one of my absolute favorite ways to relax, especially now that I have a giant garden tub. Lavender is my go to relaxing scent and I use it generously during baths. I first start by lighting the French Lavender candle from Bath & Body Works to give my bathroom some gentle lighting and fragrance.

Once I have the bath water running at the perfect temperature (I like my baths decently hot) I will pour in a generous amount of Dr. Teals Epsom Salt & Foaming Bath. The epsom salt in both of these products is great for relaxing the body while the lavender scent soothes your mind.

After soaking in the bath for 15-20 minutes I’ll pull out whatever body scrub I’m currently using and give my skin a good rub down. My body scrub of choice right now is SOAP & GLORY The Scrub Of Your Life – I do like this one however it’s not my absolute favorite. I personally prefer a body scrub that doesn’t lather.

Face Mask

As someone who struggles with oily and acne prone skin face masks have become essential to my skincare. The SHEAMOISTURE African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask is one I’ve really been enjoying lately. This mask does a great job at reducing redness from acne spots while making my skin incredibly soft. This is a good inexpensive face mask for those with troublesome skin and the 6 fl oz will last you a long time.

Pedicure

About once a month I’ll give myself an at home pedicure as part of my relaxing spa night. I keep this pretty simple by first removing any old nail polish I have. Then I’ll go in with my trusty ped egg, seriously guys this is the absolute best for getting soft feet. My nail polish of choice at the moment is Sally Hansen Insta Dry in this beautiful grey color and I always use the Sally Hansen Double Duty base and top coat to make this last as long as possible.

Book & Tea

I love wrapping up a relaxing night with a soothing cup of tea and good book. I really love the Bigelow tea in Sweet Dreams, the calming herbs combined with a delicious lavender tea helps my anxiety and gets me nice and sleepy. I can never fall asleep without reading a book and I’ve just started one of Emma Watson’s book club picks – The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson.

What are your favorite ways to relax and unwind? Take care of yourselves babes!
