Happy Monday Bookish Babes! I’m getting this post up a little late but I still wanted to share the latest Sephora Play box with you all. There was a good mix of products this month: 2 skincare, 2 makeup, 1 hair product, and a fragrance sample. For those of you unfamiliar with my Sephora Play posts I like to do a first impression post (this one) and then after using the products for at least two weeks I do a full review post. Let’s get into the first impressions!
Blinc Mascara Amplified: This is a tubing mascara that I’ve been hearing a lot about lately but I don’t know too much about how it works. This claims to be a water resistant (but not waterproof) formula that builds volume without smudging or flaking. I’m curious about the water resistant claims considering the instructions say to only remove it with a little water and friction, no makeup remover. We’ll see how this does and I’ll let you know how the amazing claims stand up to the test.
belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb: We seem to get a moisturizer in almost every box, and to be honest I’m not too thrilled about it considering none of them have impressed me so far. I find it strange that this is called an ‘aqua bomb’ but only states to be good for normal, oily, and combination skin. You would think this would be a dream come true for dry skin, but I guess not. This is a gel formula that claims it will provide a boost of hydration, reduce the appearance of pores, and help with uneven skin texture. I don’t have high hopes for this one, but I’ll give it a good test before giving you my final thoughts.
Skin Inc. Pure Revival Peel: This is a chemical exfoliating peel (so no grittiness) that should be good for all skin types, even sensitive. The description on Sephora’s website says this is safe for frequent use, however the directions say to use two to three times per week so that’s probably what I will do and just replace my normal exfoliating scrub while I’m trying it out.
Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick: Oh, I am so excited this was included in this month’s box! I’ve heard some pretty great things about this as it has been hyped all over social media over the past few months. This is an orangey color that is the perfect color for fall, I’m sure I’ll be getting some good use out of this if the formula turns out to be awesome.
Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil: I’ve been wanting to check out some new hair masks lately so this couldn’t come at a better time. My first impression of this is….skeptical. This smells like old lady baby powder if that makes any sense. I’m hoping the smell won’t linger on the hair once I rinse it out.
Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris: I’ve really been enjoying the past few fragrance samples that have been included in the Sephora Play box and this one is no different. I love scents that are feminine with a bit of depth and musk. This is described as passionate, sensual, and sophisticated. The white musk and cedarwood are what make this an A+ fragrance for me, we’ll see if I still feel that way after wearing it all day.
That wraps up the October Sephora Play box! Check back for my full review of these products, I’ve already started testing them out!
What were your favorite products from this box? I would love to know!
