Happy Thursday Bookish Babes! My Sephora Play subscription came in a few days ago and I wanted to share my first impressions of the products with you! As usual I will be doing a full review of the products in two weeks, so keep an eye out for that.
This month’s theme is ‘Beauty, Set, Go’ for the beauty enthusiast who is always on the move and needs quick and easy products. This seems to be focused on New Year’s health goals with the bag being a mesh sports style for the gym.
tarte FRXXXTION Stick Exfoliating Cleanser: This exfoliating cleanser comes in the form of a twist-up stick which makes it easy to get clean quick after a gym session or if you’re in a hurry. According to the handy packet that comes with the subscription box you can also use this as a 10 minute mask. I do like using exfoliating cleansers a few times a week so I’m excited to try this out in place of my normal scrub.
CLINIQUE Almost Lipstick in Black Honey: This product has been hyped around the beauty community for years I feel like. I was expecting this to be a full on opaque lipstick, but it is more of a sheer and building lip balm from what I can tell swatching on my hand. This claims to look good on every skin tone so we’ll see how it holds up against my pale skin.
Ouai Treatment Masque: I do enjoy getting hair masks in these boxes and I’ve heard good things about the Ouai hair products. These seems to be advertised as a typical hair mask with nothing too unique.
Tory Burch Love Relentlessly: Some people don’t like getting the perfume samples but I actually really like getting to try out lots of perfumes for a few days to figure out which one I want to buy next. I have the hardest time picking out fragrances in store so it’s nice being able to wear it several times to see how the scent wears and interacts with my body chemisty. Described as a romantic, floral scent with notes of pink pepper, Orris root, and Patchouli.
AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 50+: I personally don’t think items like concealer and foundation should be included in subscription boxes unless there is a way to definitively pick out your skin tone match. With me being fair almost everything like this that comes in these boxes is too dark for me. This does suggest using the lighter color to highlight if you have a darker skin tone and to use the darker shade for contouring if you are more pale. I haven’t opened these yet so I’m not sure how off the colors will be, but I’ll update you on that in my full review two weeks from now.
Youth To The People Kale + Spinach + Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Cream: If you’ve been following my Sephora Play posts for a while you’ll know that I haven’t been overly impressed with any of the moisturizers included so far. I personally haven’t found any of them too stellar, especially for what the price of full sized items are. That said I will give this one a fair shot and let you guys know what i think! I do like that the ingredients are Vegan and the Kale,Spinach, Green Tea combo intrigues me.
Do you get the Sephora Play box? Are you excited about any of the products? I would love to know!
